Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Inova Platforms, Inc. ("Inova," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Rules of Engagement iOS app. Rules of Engagement helps couples discuss relationship expectations through guided conversation cards.
Rules of Engagement is not therapy, legal advice, medical advice, or emergency support. Do not use the app as a substitute for a licensed professional or emergency services.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
- Account information: your email address and Firebase account identifier when you create or sign in to an account.
- Relationship profile information: partner display names, relationship stage, conversation style, goals, and similar setup choices.
- Conversation-card content: card answers, pile choices, agreement summaries, notes, unresolved topics, and session review content you choose to save.
- Optional audio recordings: audio files and related metadata if you choose to record a conversation session.
- App and device information: basic information necessary to run, secure, debug, and maintain the app and its cloud services.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create and secure your account;
- save and sync your relationship profiles and conversation data;
- support optional recording and review workflows;
- provide customer support and respond to privacy requests;
- debug, protect, and improve the app.
Cloud Services
Rules of Engagement uses Firebase services provided by Google, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage. Account data, relationship profiles, answers, agreements, reviews, and optional recordings may be stored in Firebase. Google may process this information as a service provider to operate Firebase.
Purchases
Paid access is handled by Apple through in-app purchases. Apple processes payment information and may provide us with purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock paid features, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and support your account.
Optional Microphone Recording
The app requests microphone access only when you choose to record a conversation. If you record a session, the app may save the recording locally and may upload it to Firebase Storage for your account. Do not record another person unless you have their permission and comply with all laws that apply to you.
Transcription and AI Review
When you explicitly consent to transcription and AI review, audio recordings and related session context are processed by Google Gemini through Vertex AI to create transcripts, speaker-labeled turns, summaries, expectation outcomes, and next steps. We use this processing to provide app functionality, not for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Tracking and Advertising
We do not sell your personal information. We may use mobile attribution and advertising measurement providers, such as AppsFlyer and Meta Ads, to understand which ads lead to installs, onboarding, paywall views, purchase attempts, and purchases. If requested by iOS, you can choose whether to allow tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies. We do not send relationship answers, transcripts, recordings, agreement notes, or card text to advertising platforms for ad targeting.
First-Party Analytics
We may use first-party app analytics, such as Firebase Analytics, to understand product interactions like onboarding completion, paywall views, purchase attempts, and card activity. We use this information to operate and improve the app, not to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How We Share Information
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the app, such as Firebase. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer. We do not share relationship conversation content publicly.
Your Choices
- You can choose not to grant microphone permission.
- You can choose what relationship information and notes to enter.
- You can delete your account in the app from Settings. Account deletion removes your Firebase account and saved app data associated with that account, including relationship profiles, answers, agreements, reviews, and uploaded recordings, unless retention is legally required.
- You can contact us to request access, correction, or other privacy help for your account information.
Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. If you request deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify information associated with your account unless we need to retain it for legitimate legal, security, or operational reasons.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Rules of Engagement is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Do not use the app if you are not old enough to consent to these practices under the laws that apply to you.
International Use
If you use the app outside the United States, information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when this policy was last updated.
